Our 17-day Easter Explorer safari takes you to several of southern Africa’s best destinations; Lake Malawi, South Luangwa, Victoria Falls and Cape Town.
Upon arrival at Lilongwe International Airport, you will go straight to Cape Maclear where you will spend 3 nights at The Funky Cichlid with a night at Mumbo Island in between. Most visitors to Malawi will visit Cape Maclear, it is Malawi’s most popular beach resort thanks to its golden beach, crystal clear water, friendly locals, beach bars and the endless range of both water and non-water based activities.
After a few days at the lake, we take you to South Luangwa via Lilongwe. Here you will stay at the magnificent Chichele Presidential Lodge for 4 nights, providing numerous opportunities to go on game drives and spot the vast wildlife.
Now, we head to the smoke that thunders, one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls. Not only is it the largest waterfall in the world, it is the adventure capital of Africa – visitors can bungee jump between two countries, white water raft down grade 5 rapids and go on thrilling micro-light flights above the falls.
It’s time to take to the skies, the Mother City awaits. To finish the trip we spend 4 nights in Cape Town. You can spend your days here as you wish, there is no shortage of things to do from hiking to wine tasting, to brunching and penguin spotting.
Malawian Style welcomes you to Malawi! Upon arrival at Lilongwe International Airport, you will be welcomed by your Malawian Style guide to transfer you to your lodge. You will be accommodated at The Funky cichlid the first two nights on your tour.
The Funky Cichlid is named after the awesome little multi-coloured fish found in Lake Malawi called Cichlids (‘sick-lids’). A cheap & cheerful Backpacker & Beach Bar with basic but comfortable accommodation and a popular restaurant. The perfect place for adventurers to unwind, explore & have fun!
Today after breakfast you will have a boat transfer to Mumbo Island for the night.
The island lies 10km north-west of Cape Maclear. The camp comprises five units (two twin tents and three twin reed chalets) perched on rocks high above the water shaded by lush foliage, each with bucket showers, ‘eco-loos’ and wooden deck. A hammock provides a comfortable spot to take in the idyllic Lake view. A twin-tented family unit is tucked into the forest near the main beach. There is a dining area, bar and watersport gazebo of timber and thatch.
Today we will head back to The Funky Cichlid for a night before heading to Lilongwe.
