Luxury Beach and Bush Safari Adventure

LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK, SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK AND LAKE MALAWI NATIONAL PARK

This itinerary offers a luxury getaway giving you the best of a safari and lake adventure. It combines the incredible Lower Zambezi, stunning South Luangwa National Park and magical Lake Malawi while visiting some of our most luxurious lodges. While this option shows a more luxurious level it is also just an example of what we can offer. We would be happy to tweak this trip to make it the perfect trip for you.

Day 1 - 3: The Royal Chundu, Livingstone

One of our representatives will meet you at Livingstone airport and transfer you to your accommodation, The Royal Chundu.

This luxury safari lodge gazes out across an unspoiled stretch of the iconic Zambezi River and the grasslands of Zimbabwe’s Matetsi Game Reserve beyond. The River Lodge is the main hub at Royal Chundu and the larger of its two luxury lodges. Its 10 magnificent river-front suites all open onto private decks with uninterrupted views of the water. Sip on a sundowner in the outdoor boma or move to the dining room for an intimate dinner.

Day 3 - 6: Sausage Tree, Lower zambezi

Our guide will meet you at Royal Zambezi airport. Enjoy spectacular views from the air as you fly over the hills bordering the Zambezi River. On arrival at Royal Airstrip, you will be transported to Sausage Tree, which is idyllically set on one of the best spots along the Zambezi River.

Sausage Tree camp is the epitome of bush chic offering a civilized approach to a true bush experience with lavish attention to detail. This exclusive safari camp, voted number one on the BBC Holiday Programme’s ‘Ten Best Luxury Destinations’, specializes in the very best game viewing with the highest international standards in luxury and service.

Day 6 - 9: kaingo, South Luangwa

From the Royal Airstrip you will catch your flight to Lusaka where you will be met ahead of your connecting flight to Mfuwe – our gateway to the South Luangwa National Park. On arrival you will be transported to one of South Luangwa’s top bush camps, Kaingo.

Kaingo is a stunning camp and provides wonderful views of the surrounding area. Large fly-wired windows provide stunning views of the river; and the complete absence of generator noise (we prefer solar power) means nothing but the wheeze-honk of a hippo interferes with the sounds of a lions roar, leopards call or the early morning ‘drumming’ of the Ground Hornbill.

Day 9 - 12: Zungulila, South Luangwa

Another day, another bush camp!

Zungulila is a charming camp that embodies the essence of old Africa and a bygone era, with breathtaking views onto the Kapamba river and an expansive plain where natural springs attract huge herds of game. Zungulila is eminently peaceful, and you may be tempted to stay forever!

Day 12 - 15: Kaya Mawa, Lake Malawi

After some days adventuring in the bush it is time to venture to the beach. To Likoma Island to be exact, you will stay at Kaya Mawa – Malawi’s top resort.

Kaya Mawa is a beautiful lodge, where you can relax in complete luxury or choose from a range of outdoor activities, including snorkelling, scuba diving, and sailing at the full water sports centre, or head out on a mountain bike on one of the local trails. Visits to local communities can be arranged, giving you the opportunity to experience African culture and the various community projects Kaya Mawa supports. Guided village and cathedral tours are also available.

Day 15: Homeward bound

Unfortunately, it’s time to say good bye to paradise for now. You will fly to Lilongwe before getting your international flight.
