Seven Nights spent between at least three of Luangwa’s best Bush Camps and 4 nights in paradise. The exact itinerary is decided two weeks before travel, however whatever the route, this promises to be a breathtaking experience in the wild beauty of Zambia and Malawi. The itinerary below is to be used as a guide only and will depend on availability.
Meet our representative in Lusaka Airport where you will be escorted to your connecting flight to Mfuwe, our gateway to the South Luangwa National Park. Enjoy spectacular views from the air as you fly into the South Luangwa Valley. This flight takes just over an hour. On arrival at Mfuwe Airport, you will be transported to Mchenja Bush Camp (approx transfer time of 2.5hrs, most of which is a game drive through the national park), where you can settle into your luxury home in the bush.
Your second day in the South Luangwa will begin with a filling breakfast at Mchenja and then a game drive to transfer you to Luwi Bush Camp; this will take around 2 – 4 hours and is a slow game drive through the Park giving you great opportunities to see the wildlife during the gorgeous morning light. You will get to the camp in time for a sumptuous buffet brunch before having a few hours of ‘siesta’ time to watch the goings on from your room, head to the nearby ‘hippo hide’ or have a proper sleep! In the afternoons you will enjoy a delicious cake and tea/coffee before heading out on your afternoon walk. During the next two days you will spend a lot of time on foot, exploring the area around the dry white sand of the Luwi River.
On the morning of day four you will make your way to your next camp either by road or by foot; this is around 8kms and will take around 3 – 4 hours. If you decide to walk, your bags will be waiting for you in your room when you arrive in time for brunch. All our bush camps are set under the shade of wonderful and immense trees. All the chalets have individual decking and en-suite outdoor showers and toilets. The camps include a large traditional chitenje (outdoor lounge) for sharing food, drinks and good company. Enjoy the taste sensations of the sumptuous meals, which are often served under the stars. Over the next 2 days you will participate in twice daily game drives and walks conducted by some of Africa’s best guides.
After another Nsolo breakfast you prepare for our adventure to another part of the African bush, making our way to Kakuli Bush Camp. Jump aboard the game viewing vehicle for a game drive to Kakuli Bush Camp or alternatively you can make your way there by foot which is a longer walk of approximately 12kms and will take around 4 – 4.5 hours depending on what you see along the way. Kakuli features luxury tents with stunning views of the Luangwa River, which is home to one of the largest concentrations of hippos and crocodiles in Africa. Daily game drives and walking safaris will be conducted in the same manner as previous days.
You will get to camp in time for a buffet brunch before having a few hours of ‘siesta’ time to watch the goings on from your room. In the afternoon you can enjoy tea/coffee and cake before heading out on your afternoon drive. Returning to camp to enjoy a drink around the bar. Dinner is then served before you head to the camp fire to swap stories of the excitements of the day.
After 7 days exploring the bush it is time to fly back to Lilongwe from Mfuwe where your Malawian Style guide will greet you and drive you to Senga Bay, Lake Malawi. It is approximately a 2 hour drive. From here you will take a boat transfer to Blue Zebra Island, which is about 20 minutes. Welcome to paradise. During your time on the island you will be able to enjoy drinks by the pool, soak in the sun on the beach, snorkel and discover the Blue Zebra Cichlids, and even play badminton. The Island is renowned for its dazzling array of bird life, you will find yourself on an un-spoilt island paradise, surrounded by nature and luxury.
This morning you will enjoy one final hearty breakfast at Blue Zebra, then head back to Senga Bay where your Malawian Style guide will meet you and drive you back to Lilongwe International Airport in time for your onward journey. Bon Voyage.
