A perfect romantic getaway that combines the stunning South Luangwa National Park and magical Lake Malawi. You will stay at a number of exclusive bush camps whilst in South Luangwa and spend the remaining days on Malawi’s most exclusive island. This itinerary offers an ultimate luxurious adventure but is just an example to give you an idea of what we can offer. We would be happy to tweak this trip to make sure your honeymoon is a truly unforgettable experience.
Our representative at Kuyenda will meet you at Mfuwe Airport and transfer you to your first of 2 bush camp stays in South Luangwa National Park.
There’s something undeniably special about Kuyenda. Set beneath shady trees by the Manzi River, it may be the simplest of our camps but Kuyenda embodies the authentic charm of old Africa with its cluster of traditional thatched grass huts and back-to-nature feel. As for the wildlife, you hardly need look for it as it will come to you. Settle down in the lounge and look out over the rippling grasses of the neighbouring plain where the drama of the African wilderness is played out each day
It is now time to move to Zungulila camp, Zungulila is a charming camp that embodies the essence of old Africa and a bygone era, with breathtaking views onto the Kapamba river and an expansive plain where natural springs attract huge herds of game. Zungulila is eminently peaceful, and you may be tempted to stay forever!
After breakfast in the bush it is time for one last game drive through the park, to the Mfuwe Gate, which will take about 2-3 hrs, and is where you will meet our guide to drive you to Mfuwe Airport. Here you will get your 1 hour flight to Lilongwe where you will catch a short 1 hr connecting flight to your next destination within Lake Malawi, Likoma Island. From here you will take a short boat ride to Nkwichi, on the Mozambican shores of the lake.
More than a lodge, Nkwichi is a complete experience offering a unique taste of Africa with exquisite lakeside scenery and unparalleled tranquillity. With 8 secluded beaches set on 4 km of Rift Valley coastline, Nkwichi is the perfect setting to discover a lost world; a fresh-water oasis and an Africa untouched.
Following a couple of nights at Nkwichi it is time to return to Malawi and enjoy your final days at Kaya Mawa.
Kaya Mawa consistently features as one of the top lodges in Africa. Here you can enjoy incredible food, sit back, relax and enjoy the next few days in paradise. Make the most of the incredible snorkelling, crystal clear waters, fascinating birdlife, diverse flora and fauna, and stunning sunsets.
After breakfast it’s time to catch your flight from Likoma Island back to Lilongwe for your onward journey.
